Third in our series of introductions, meet Michael Cormier. Mike works in asset management.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Connecticut, just outside Hartford. The one thing that I miss most about being away from home is my family and friends.
How long have you lived in Boston, what brought you here?
The hub has been my home for the past three years and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I was Determined to find a job right out of school and was fortunate to pursue an opportunity that led me to this historic city.
What neighborhood do you live in and what do you love about it?
Ever since I moved to Boston, Southie has been my neighborhood of choice. I like it because there are excellent new restaurants and bars that accommodate everyone’s taste.
What’s your favorite downtown restaurant?
I’m still exploring many of the hidden gems that Boston has to offer but I’d have to say my favorite restaurant is Grill 23, always exceeds expectations.
Any travel plans to escape the cold? Or are you hitting the slopes and embracing the snow?
Growing up in New England and attending undergrad in Vermont, I embrace the dark winter months and love to go on ski vacations with friends and family. I just got back from Park City, UT. It was an amazing trip and I’d recommend the skiing to anyone looking to head west.
Other Sports, hobbies or destinations?
Cape Cod, Golf, Skiing, Red Sox
When someone from out of town visits, where do you take them for a perfect Boston experience?
Nothing beats a Sox game during the summer or one of the waterfront bars in the seaport area. However, you can’t go wrong with an Italian dinner in the North End followed with some cannoli from Mike’s for a night cap.
